No Three-Way for Me

Storm Clouds 010Unfortunately, the storms clouds over Toronto did not clear in time for Sunday night's three-way conjunction between Luna, Mercury and The Pleiades.... I tried to catch the left-overs of the celestial orgy tonight, but Mercury and The Pleiades had moved away from the moon and disappeared behind the horizon before it was dark enough to see them.... all I could get was the crescent moon.... which wasn't bad actually....

Crescent Moon 012
can't see her?.... let's get closer....
Crescent Moon 093
even closer....
Crescent Moon 094
whoaw....
Crescent Moon 044
you can see her pores.... Mare Crisium or the Sea of Crisis is the big crater at 4 o'clock....
Crescent Moon 068
I'll have to keep an eye out for more interesting shows up there, 'til then.... wishing you all clear skies ahead....

Oh dear. You missed a menage a trois, Angelo, heheh! Those are great photos of the crescent moon, you must have a really powerful zoom on your camera...unless you were in the shuttle??

Those storm clouds look quite magnificent...did you get the storm?

A very interesting post, Angelo. Mind you, I love all that stuff, you know, the universe and what's out there. Thanks for that, I enjoyed it.

Puss-in-Boots: hahaha Robyn, ya I missed out on the good stuff hehe...

I actually just used my telescope and put my camera up against it, but hey, maybe one day we'll get to go up on the shuttle!

The storm wasn't that great, but I always have my eye out and my camera ready, so I'll be sure to try again next storm. Glad you enjoyed it Robyn, Cheers!

woah, man. those pictures are very mystifying! i used to think when i was a kid that it's not only a slab of rock floating in space...hehehe!

Hindi ba kita yung Mare Tranquilitatis (Sea of Tranquility)? It would be nice to see Armstrong's footprints from here..hehe!

NOOO! So it will end soon? I wish it could go on for five more seasons at least. T_T

I see. I’m not a big Garfield fan. Poor cats. I bet they want to see you and you’re girlfriend get back together! :P Fluffy is a very ironic name for a cat. A three-headed dog jumped in my mind when I first read the name. Hehe!

yeah... before she was taken to the hospital, she was given sweet cough syrups that apparently increased her glucose levels...but she's out of the woods now. thanks :D

actually i'm not used to write on scratch either. i just had no choice! hehe!

i think matt did good this week. hope he'll survive for another...

cheers, doc!

Hi, Angelo!
This is cool!
I didn't get too close to the moon just the way you do. Your photos is clear and sharp. We have a rainy summer here and missed the moon for quite sometime. I think I'll share with you my moon photos too, once I get it uploaded...

Lucas: Hey Luke, I still think it's more than just a slab of rock floating up there, hehe... the Sea of Tranquility will probably be visible tonight or tomorrow.... one day I'm gonna get a telescope powerful enough to see Armstrong's footprints... haha yeah right, I wish....

Sadly yes, Lost is ending.... holy crap, last night's episode was awesome! They're really tying things up....

Hell no! I have absolutely no desire to get back with any of my exes.... Nermal's over it already hehe.... when I think of 3 headed dog I think of Cerberus.... but a 3 headed dog named Fluffy sounds vaguely familiar.... hmmm.....

Glad to hear your Lola's okay, take care of her and yourself too!

Dodong Flores: Hey Dodong! Thanks, it was a challenge to photograph because the crescent moon doesn't reflect a lot of light, like a full, or partially full moon does. I look forward to your photos!

yeah, thanks!

It's really cool to know that you can still recall your Astronomy lessons. :D

waaa! i can't wait to do a LOST marathon. whenever i watch that show, i can't help not to drop my jaw.

i guess, they're ex-es for a reason, right? You're not an HP fan i can see. Fluffy is Hagrid's 3-headed dog. that's why i find it ironic to name a cat with it..hehe!

Wow! Now that's what I call fantastic photography! The craters are truly visible.
I'm wondering what camera you used for this--ang ganda talaga!

Angelo said...

Lucas: Oh yeah! Now I remember, haven't kept up with HP.... I watched the Chamber of Secrets last weekend on cable... at least I think that's what it was called hehe...

ya, I'm a bit of an astronomy nerd.... and yes ex-es belong in the past...

Enjoy your marathon, your jaw will drop!

Dennis Villegas: Hey Dennis! Thanks, I just used my good old trusty 5.1MP Sony Cybershot... I know it's time for a new camera... but to get the shots of the craters, I put it up against the eyepiece of my telescope (40X magnification). I tried it as an experiment a while ago thinking it wouldn't work, but it did! It's easier when the moon is full, but I wanted to try it on a crescent....

Dennis Villegas said...

Talaga? Amazing! Galing ng experiment--nag create ng magandang resulta. Akala ko nga gumamit ka ng mga 500mm na lens! I'm really into it, thanks for the tip. Will try to do it on a full moon.
Thanks for sharing, bro!
