Silver

This is Mushu, my SILVER Arowona or Dragon Fish. Their scientific name is Osteoglossum bicirrhosum which is Greek for "bony tongue" and "two barbels". This species is an ancient fish, they have been around since the Jurassic Period, and have stayed pretty much the same since then. Native to South America, they are also known there as "monkey fish" because of their ability to jump out of the water to catch prey, which usually consist of smaller fish, crustaceans, insects, and even small birds! There are also Asian, African and Australian species, and they come in a variety of colours: black, red, gold, green.

Happy Photohunting Folks!

Hi! That is such a beautiful photo. I am assuming that it is not wild but in an aquarium. Can it live with other fish or must it be alone? I love the reflection of it in the water.

Interesting that it jumps out of the water to catch prey. Beautiful, and great choice for today's theme. Thanks for visiting me!

Mom envies your fish photos. The boy had a Betta, guppies, Endler's Live Bearers, and finally neon tetra. All little fings that fit in a small tank. Mom nefur got good pictors of them.
Mushu sounds like a fish we kitties shouldn't mess wif. I'll stick to tuna an ham.

I see Nermal is still washing up after his big haircut. Now, does he show much interest in your fish?
