Thursday Thirteen Ed. #6

Thirteen Musical Instruments I Have Laying Around:
  1. Piano
  2. Acoustic Guitar
  3. Flute
  4. Bass Guitar - complete with broken G string....
  5. Recorder - I've had this since grade four....
  6. Maracas from Mexico
  7. Kulintang - a Filipino instrument comprised of a series of gongs, akin to a xylophone....
  8. Harmonica
  9. Bunkaka - another Filipino instrument... made of bamboo, when hit against your palm, it will make a "boing" "boing" type of sound....
  10. Bamboo Flute - a variation of the recorder I guess....
  11. Alto Saxophone Reed - okay, this isn't a complete instrument, it goes into the mouthpiece of the sax. I used to play alto sax as a secondary instrument in high school. I never got a sax of my own, but I kept my reed....
  12. A Steel Drum from Grenada - just a miniature.... it makes a clanging sound when you hit it though ....
  13. Nermal's Bell - probably one of my favourites. It's music to my ears when I come home after a long day, and I hear it speeding to the door to greet me... Happy Thirteening Thirteeners!

Happy TT!

I hope you fix that poor bass's G string (oh, my. I just realized how that sounds...) before its neck warps.

Wow. This REALLY sounds bad. I'd better cut it off before it gets worse... *wink*

A musical household! Great! I learned a little bit of piano when I was younger and my hubby (He's an Angelo too) is learning the guitar now! He just purchased an Alhambra Classical guitar yesterday! Great list!

Leah said...

Wow, so you are musically inclined. That is nice. Maybe one day, I'll be hearing you play one or two of these.

Anonymous said...

Wow! You play all of them? That's impressive. My 17-year old son plays the flute and the alto sax. He wants to be a jazz flutist. My 12-year just started playing the trombone. They've also both played the recorder from grade 4 to 6.

my goodness, thats alot of stuff just lying around! :)

Wow, that is a lot of music. If you ever run out of room and want to unload the piano somewhere.....

Such wonderful instruments! Happy TT

Amanda: That's great for Angelo :) Guitar is awesome and now he can serenade you ;) Happy Thursday!

Leah: Hey ya, alright, although I'm shy with my music... I play coz it's very meditative and relaxing :) Happy T13!

Niceheart: Oh I'm glad to hear about your kids! I made a lot of great friends through music when I was their age. I found it a natural transition from flute to alto sax as the fingering is almost exactly the same... I'm glad your son plays both... and I'm glad to hear his interest in jazz flute, that's awesome! Oh and trombone is really fun to play, your 12 y.o. made a great choice :) You've made me feel nostalgic for the days when music was such a big part of my life... kudos to you and your kids! Happy Thursday :)

Sparky Duck: Ya you're right! I should play with them a bit more often huh? happy Thursday!

Crystal: hehe, I don't think I could part with it... it was a gift from my Godmother when I was much younger :)

The Filipino instruments look fascinating.
And I love number 13.
Thanks for sharing,

Very cool! Such lovely instruments. :) I still have my flute from playing it throughout school, and I used to play trumpet and piano, but I gave up piano because my fingers are too short to reach an octave!

I like #13 on your list. :)

Re: The Terry Fox Run - there's no "official" one in Munich, but we ran an "unofficial" one ourselves. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day! Dragonheart says "meow" to Nermal!

Hope my comment get through this time...

See you later,Angelo! ghee

Wow, very cool.
I think the only instrument I own anymore is a keyboard.

Happy TT

Laurence said...

I really love your list !!! Les instruments de musique, c'est une vrai passion... :-)

Happy T13 ;-)

JO said...

So do you play all these instrument? All I know is the piano.

Angelo said...

Charlotte: Thank you, Happy T13!

Gina: No problem :) Ya Guitar is probably the best, it's very versatile and portable...Good luck on your test...

Fraces: Ya I was fascinated with them as well... there was a whole bunch more that I was not able to bring back with me. happy T13!

Caylynn: Really? that's too bad but I'm sure you can still play chopsticks :D

Ghee: the bunkaka's pretty cool eh? And ya, I used to play sax, but haven't had a chance to play in years.... the fingering is the same as the flute so I'm sure it would come back to me... the embrochure (the shape of you mouth and facial muscles that you develop with practice) would probably take some time to develop again though. Blogger sucks, I'm glad your comment finally worked!

Angela/SciFiChick: thanks, keyboards are cool! Happy T13!

Laurence: Salut! oui la musique est un grand passion pour moi :) Bon T13!

JO: yup, it's been a while for some of them, but it's like riding a bike.

that flute brought back memories - I used to play in high school.

Happy TT

JHS said...

Hey, that flute needs some polishing! Do you play it?

Barbara said...

Sounds like you have musicians in your family. I love the piano. I play the piano - my husband, son, and one of my grandsons all play the guitars.

Check out my TT

Angelo said...

Tina: haha, pero I need to practice more :)

Wacky Mommy: Thanks, Nermal says thanks too :) Happy T13!

Dawn: That's great! Happy T13 :)

Janie Hickock Seiss, Esq.: ya it needs polishing, maybe if I played it more often I would polish it more often too.

Barbara: That's great! Piano and guitar are great instruments. Happy T13!

i want Nermal's silver bell. look my silver blog. The silver bell should be mine...T__T

Well, since i couldn't have it anyway, Nermal please keep it precious for its admirer.

And i made a cat flash thermometer for you. See the html code (Right Click me>>Save as...). it shows current temperature in Ontario.
Hope you would like it! :)

OMG, so can play all those instruments?! You are gifted, I would like to play even one of these instruments but I guess someone needs patience and talent and I don't. I can be patient but having talent is a big question mark, poor me!

Angelo said...

Cat: Hey thanks Cat! I'm gonna check out the code right now. I like it alreaday :D

Angelo said...

Haze: I bet you could pick up a guitar and learn in a couple of sessions, the rest is just practice! If you know a few chords you can play a bunch of songs already. I admit piano, flute, and sax take a lot more time and patience... which is why I should probably pick them up again more often so I don't lose it! But harmonica and percussion instruments? anybody can play those, you just need a little bit of rhthym and you're pinoy so for sure you got some... music is in our blood ;) When they teach your kids to play the recorder(which is the same as a bamboo flute) at school get them to teach you, it's child's play :) They taught us in grade 4! So it's not a really big accomplishment to play a bunch of instruments trust me :)

Mine's up too :)

See this thermoscat code maker(generator).
Just type Ontario, search and choose Ontario, CA for the city name,
you can customize the background color, like #E6E6E6, one of your favorite blog colors.
and then make your very own html code.

Click here to see what the cat thermometer looks like.
i guess some of your blog friends would like it. :)
