Nermal Takes a Bath

I had two reasons for giving Nermal a bath.

  1. I've been sneezing and my nose has been all congested, it's too early for spring allergies..... on close inspection of Nermal's back, I noticed some dandruff... No wonder I've been waking up in the middle of the night sneezing!
  2. The weather on the weekend was so nice that we went outside for a quick walk. It has been so long since Nermal's been outside.... The first and only place he decided to hang out was his catnip patch, which was all dried up and muddy.... he decided to roll around in it...
So here are some pics of Nermal taking a bath. He wanted to provide all the captions for y'all, so I turn it over to Nermal......

Nermal: What's this place? I think I have bad memories from here?
WAT THA! Is that running water?!It IS running water!!! Get me out of here!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Oh woe is me..... This is me plotting my escape..... You said it wasn't gonna take long!!! I hate shampoo! Where did my tail go? It looks so small.... Are we done yet? Yes!! Finally I'm all rinsed off.... Get me outta here! Oh my Cat!... you gotta be kidding me.... I thought we were done.... I hate that hairdryer thing, don't get too close or I'll swat that thing! Do my belly too... All done! Check out my fur, it's growing back again.... I think I look gooooood, and I smell even better.... maybe there IS something to this bathing thing.....

Ohgodohgodohgod (etc) poor Nermal ! What have they done with you ! but I have to say Nermal is a very, very brave cat ! You could never, never do that with my cats or you would end up covered with bleeding scratches and look like a sadistic serial killer's victim still alive ! No way to give our cats a bath unless we dress up like a moonwalkers ! and the hairdryer, only the thought of it makes me do my testament ! The pictures are just wonderful, the whole procedure looks very much like a cartoon !

I just thought of something, you should participate on "Wordless Wednesday" and put these pictures as a post ! I think it would be very successful ! Before (generously) I wrote this I had a evil thought crossing my mind ! Just to steal your pictures and put them on my blog for Wordless Wednesday !

This reminds me of when I was growing up. We have more than a dozen dogs and half a dozen cats.

Every other week, we give our pets a bath. We start with the big doggies and work our way to the cats.

What's really funny was when we get to the small dogs, the cats would start to growl in protests. They're smark cookies. Weird that they wouldn't ran away, they are just not quiet about it either.

I sympathize with you Nermal! I have to have weekly baths, and it's no fun. I'm impressed that your human managed to get some photos of you! Both of my humans need to bathe me, leaving no one available to take photos.

Your fur is growing in nicely. :) Your tail looks almost as small as mine when it's wet!

Being clean feels good, though, doesn't it?

yes!!Its Nermal`s day!! :)

Nermal is really cute,I showed his pics to Ally, too and Ally couldnt help herself to smile and kept saying, ohhh,he`s really cute!LOL!and I love his facial expressions, too! :)

I bet it will take a lot of time to give him a bath and to dry his hair huh,but of course he deserves it :)

Nermal looks like a model and just had done his project :)

Happy Superstar Day,Nermal!!
hugs! ;)

How come he doesn't scratch you to bits? Read my post on giving Oscar a bath and entertaining my neighbour at the same time. Nermal seems a real pussy cat at bath times.

It has been a LONG time since any of our cats got a bath. Blessing is usually the one that needs it. When his white fur starts to change color - kinda yellow, we know it's time for an appointment. He's far too large and ornery now for us to do it ourselves.

Nermal does look quite handsome after his bath. He is quite brave, we don't DO monsters in our house (hairdryers). D :)

Poor Nermal! How did you get him to let you do that? I would have claw marks from head to toe!

Unbelievable, Nermal! You sat there, you waited while photos were taken, you even stood to have your belly dried. I have NEVER seen a cat behave like that for a bath! You are amazing!

Poor Nermal, you are looking so thin if you are wet. If I do this with Luna she would scratch me all over and then run away.
But you are looking so cute in the bath like it doesn´t constitute you anything.

You were very patient, Nermal, more patient than my cats would be. I would wind up bloodied and broken if I bathed them, although Socks does like water better than the others. Great series of pictures -- I enjoyed them very much, Nermal's person. :-)

awww.. Nermaal took a bath. I remember my dog never wanted to take a bath. When she sees me holding his towel and kinda looking at her, she would run around the house. Hehe. I'm sure he smells sooo good now. ^^

And sorry about the sneezing and all. =(

Precious photo series! The look on Nermal's face before you begin the bathing is priceless!

Oh, dear! The fact that you can get these pictures without Nermal jumping out of the tub is amazing.

Miss Willow wanted me to be sure and say that for the lovely long haired of the species, a bath takes up to three hours to complete... perhaps 20 minutes to do the washing and a good two hours to blow dry. You never want to still be damp... that awful litter will clump to your beautifully coiffed hair.

I'm late but finally up.

Angelo - how on earth do you manage to keep Nermal in the bath? I had to regularly bathe both my Persians and by the finish, the bathroom looked like a bomb had gone off, I was wet through, bleeding, and as cranky as they were... and usually they decided to pee on me as revenge - just at the point I lifted them out of the bath into a bath towel.

I think I will show these pictures to Harvey as an example of how good kitties behave at bathtime!!
